每次被朋友问起,美国的助理教授是不是教授助理,我都会解释一遍。助理教授的"助理"一词的确蛮搞。因为国内的教授只有副教授与正教授两级,而美国则有三级。所以助理教授并不是教授的助理,而是教授的初级阶段。讲师只要硕士就够,但助理教授都是清一律的博士。一般而言,助理教授都是终身制。不过能否取得终身的资格还要看最初五六年里的表现。
