在iGoogle还叫做Google个性化主页并且 首次加上主题皮肤更换功能 的时候，Google副总裁Marissa Mayer就曾经透露过将来可能会允许第三方用户自行创建主题皮肤。但直到10个月后的今天，Google才最终有所动静。Google终于给iGoogle增加了统一的主题皮肤目录，允许用户选择官方及第三方主题皮肤，并且还发布了iGoogle Themes API，鼓励开发者为iGoogle开发主题皮肤。这些举动将会令iGoogle进一步社会化及个性化。
